Hudsonville Body Shop was created by Herb Schout and Gord Gurink in June of 1948. The original shop was located at 3480 Chicago Drive in Hudsonville, Michigan. Herb and Gord served the Hudsonville community, out of this location, until 1963, when Mr. Gurink decided to invest his time in mission work. At that time Mr. Mel Padding stepped in to become partners with Mr. Schout. Then, in 1982, Long time employee Robert Arnoldink and John Schout, son of Herb, decided to become partners and purchased the company from Mr. Schout. In 1992, Bob and John decided it was time to expand to a much larger and more high tech facility located at its current location on Highland Drive in Hudsonville.

    As the collision industry and automobiles changed, Bob and John wanted to be the leaders in state-of -the-art collision repair in West Michigan. Through their research, Bob and John determined that CARSTAR would be their answer, providing advanced training and support systems for the ever-changing industry.

    In 1998 Hudsonville Body CARSTAR made the decision to branch out side of the Hudsonville area and bought Marcott Collision of Wayland. Marcott Collision was started by Don Marcott in 1963, and has served as the leader in quality collision repair in the Wayland area ever since. In 2000, Marcott Collision CARSTAR was moved across the street to its present location at, 126 Railroad Street, as Wayland's only state of the art collision repair facility.

    In 2000, Bob and John also moved into the Holland area by opening the Holland Collision office. In 2006, they bought the building and opened a complete collision repair center. This shop has been furnished with all the latest collision repair equipment and has grown fast.

    In 2006 Hudsonville Body Shop had a small overflow shop in the Harold Zeigler Chrysler building in Hudsonville. Harold Zeigler moved and sold the property forcing us to move our overflow location to Jenison. At this point Bob and John felt that the Jenison area could also benefit from a full service collision center, and thus opened their fourth full service location, located at 2370 Port Sheldon Street.

    With a total of four collision centers, Bob and John felt the need to unite the four locations under one name. So, in 2009, Bob and John made the decision to unit all of the locations under one name, AUTO BODY XPERTS CARSTAR, assuring our customers that if they choose an AUTO BODY XPERTS CARSTAR location, they are receiving the best quality and service available.
